DaPoPo Theatre will present a view into the Halifax Poor House by animating individuals who lived within its walls through text, movement, and music. The history of the Poorhouse is ripe with questions about how we treat those on the margins of society, and how the context and value of a physical location changes as a city changes around it. By investigating the people who populated the Poorhouse, we remind ourselves of the importance of the human element of urban planning and land usage, which is an interesting contextual compliment to the challenges facing the Common today.

DaPoPo Theatre is an independent theatre company creating and presenting accessible, challenging and alternative theatrical experiences for audiences and artists. The theatre craft of DaPoPo is po-litical, po-pular and po-etic. DaPoPo includes Artistic Director Garry Williams and core artists Kristi Anderson, Eric Benson, Zach Faye, Keelin Jack, and Kim Parkhill. In October DaPoPo is presenting it’s fifth annual month-long theatre festival, Live-In at The Living Room on Agricola St.
